 SRHCES Projects

SRHCES is currently initiating major projects on the Lower West Branch of the Susquehanna River, which extends approximately 77 miles from Lock Haven to Sunbury, and on the Lower North Branch. Major initiatives planned or underway include:

  • Monitor water quality in the Susquehanna River Lower West Branch at 17 sites between Lock Haven and Sunbury.  Click here for more information.
  • Assess the effectiveness of riparian buffers to reduce non-point source pollution in Chillisquaque Creek at PPL’s Montour Preserve.
  • Coordinate the planning and construction of an environmental education center at the Shikellamy Marina.
  • Establish three field stations in Lewisburg, Northumberland, and Danville to collect real-time river data.
  • Studying the mercury content in area fish populations.
